Oral Surgery

Any time one of your teeth develops decay, suffers trauma or a serious infection, they can be damaged beyond repair and your dentist may suggest extracting the tooth.

Dr. Thaer Daifallah, DDS, is our oral surgeon who provides oral surgery options for our patients in our office on Saturdays. The Dentists in Lawrence team is also able to collectively work with Dr. Daifallah in developing treatment plans for more serious cases. Dr. Daifallah provides in-office sedation to make the process as comfortable as possible for the patient.

Why Should I Have My Wisdom Teeth Removed?

Wisdom teeth, or your third molars as they are also known, are the last teeth to develop and appear in your mouth. They are typically first seen between the ages of 17 and 25 in most people.

When wisdom teeth align properly and your surrounding gum tissue is healthy, they do not have to be removed. However, when they are impacted, or are prevented from properly erupting within the mouth, that's when a dentist will commonly recommend having them extracted. Early detection of issues with your wisdom teeth also help to prevent other dental problems, including:
  • Infections
  • Crowding and damage to the teeth
  • Cysts
  • Periodontal abscesses
